Linear network.. Electric current. Ohm and Kirchoff laws. Thevenin theorem. Alternate current: complex impedence. Digital multimeters and scopes. Principles of Interference diffraction and polarization of light. Volt amperometric measurements of linear e non linear circuit components. Measurements of low and high pass circuits. Optical measurements with grating spectrometer. Measurements of the characteristics of a polarizer.

Optical measurement wit grating spectrometer. Measurement of characteristics of a polarizer.
Competence acquiredUse of the acquired knowledge to perform and analyze laboratory measurements. Performing electrical measurements with digital multimeters, scopes and function generators. Performing optical measurements by using spectrometers, polarizers, and photodiodes. Critical analysis of the results and estimation of the errors of the measurement.
Skills acquired (at the end of the course):Use of the acquired competence to face optical and electronic instrumentation. Use of the experimental methodology for measurements in optical and optometric fields with critical handling of obtained results.

Lectures:
Electrology: Linear network: electric current, Ohm and Kirchoff laws. Thenenin theorem. Voltage generator. Electical power. Alternating current in complex formalism, impedence for capacitor and inductance. Extension of Ohm and Kirchoff laws. Electrical Power with complex impedence. Circuits: RC and RL response to the step voltage. Outline of resonant RLC. Frequency response of amplitude and phase of RC circuits: high and low pass cinfigurations. Definition of decibel. Digital multimeter: functioning and characteristics. Use and functioning of the digital oscilloscope
Optics
Fundamentals of interference and diffraction. Functioning of diffraction grating and of grating spectrometer. Light polarization. Functioning of polarizer: Malus law. Introduction and explanation of laboratory experiences (reported below).
Laboratory:
Experience 1: Volt Amperometric characteristic of 3 circuit elements.
Experience 2: Phase and Amplitude Diagrams for low and high pass circuits.
Experience 3: Malus Law and measurement of the extinction ratio of a polarizer.
Experience 4: Measurement of wavelengths of a spectral lamp by using a grating spectrometer.
